BATIK


History

Batik is an ideal crafts field in Malaysia. Since the 15th century AD, man has found the traditional method of making batik. In the past, the Malays use potatoes as a taster but now batik fabrics have been developed by using modern tools. Batik was first introduced in our country especially in Kelantan since 1910 again. Batik originated in Indonesia and is derived from the Javanese word 'tik' which means dripping or write the dots. Ambatik also means drawing, writing, painting or drip. In the Malay world, a kind of batik called Rainbow Batik was introduced in 1770's. In Malaysia, most of the batik industry factories abound in Kelantan and Terengganu.

Motive

Motives are decorative patterns used in the process of batik painting or inlaid.Batik motif forms produced in two forms, namely Organic Motif and Motif Geometric. NATURE Organic motifs like clouds tired nature, plants, flowers, and animals.

Making Process

White cotton fabric is suitable for making batik. After first applied to candles, it will be dipped slightly darker in color. After that, it will be applied for the second time and then dyed with a darker color. This process will continue until exhausted. This fabric will be boiled in water containing soda. When boiled, the different colors will appear. Batik cloth is then dried until dry. Batik fabrics that are dry, will be scrubbed, folded and packaged to be sold.

Batik Fabric Classification
Batik is divided into three types.

Batik Block
White cloth will be applied with batik patterns using pattern blocks.Block pattern made of wood or metal. This process is done over and over with a certain order until complete. Where the block was first dipped into the dye before was placed on top of the cloth

Batik Scratch
Canting tool used for plotting with hot wax batik patterns on white cloth. After sketching the work completed, as appropriate pattern coloring process is done by using a paint brush, which affected parts of the candle will not leave color effect when the colors do turn off.Wax will melt and removable parts make this white as a fortress.

Batik Screen
Batik this screen are great when compared with batik blocks and smearing. Only the method of drawing and how to apply a color pattern is different. Batik pattern formed on the screen is made of polyster fabric that berpengidang. screens mounted on a white cloth, dyeing process by passing on the color patterns using sekuji earlier.
